In therapy, your pain is welcome. As writer Fariha Roísin states, “I don’t want to pathologize, but I feel that our sadness, depression, and illness are a portal to understanding ourselves, our pasts, and our families with more searing clarity. It’s a door.” I am here to learn alongside you with nonjudgment and compassion. I believe we can build a healthy relationship with both physical and emotional pain, not by avoiding it, but by approaching it with presence and curiosity. I commit to understanding where you are right now and shaping our therapeutic space to truly serve you.
Art making can be one path to reconnection: each mark made is a reminder that nothing is fixed, and every moment holds possibility. You do not have to have experience with art therapy, art making, or any other approaches to be able to receive and benefit from them.
A fun fact about be: My master’s capstone paper was titled, ‘Embodied Connection: The Importance of Art Therapy for Adolescents Vulnerable to Problematic Internet Use.’ I studied how online coping both responds to and exacerbates emotional distress, and how art therapy that incorporates in-person collaborative art making supports emotional expression, relational connection, co-regulation, and increased bodily awareness. I’m passionate about understanding how the unique context of our modern world impacts our wellness.
