Competing in Division I Track and Field highlights her desire to be part of a team and community valuing connections, and working hard for worthwhile goals.

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” - Brené Brown

A lot of my passion is derived through athletics and the ways sports fosters connection. The relationships I made within those team settings inspire me to continue my own journey of self-discovery. When friends and family were prompted with, “What makes Kelsey, Kelsey?” they replied, a sense of humor, undeniable loyalty, and her ability to hold space without judgment.

I fell in love with psychology after several personal experiences opened my eyes to how relationships and life events drive us forward, and how interconnected we are. By stepping into the counseling field, I tap into a connection with the community and fulfill my personal values. My aspiration is to serve so others may feel hope. When we have hope, we have purpose, dignity, and a chance to get it right.

This is a personal favorite video when I need to allow myself a minute to breathe and step into mindfulness:
