Mitchell Lee Wiggins Jr., BS, Graduate Clinician

Locations: New Brighton & Coon Rapids

Supervised By: Amanda Neumann, MA, LMFT

Specialties: Life Transitions, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, BIPOC issues, Relationship Difficulties, Sports Performance, LGBTQIA+, Grief & Loss, Guilt, Shame

Client Focus: Teens, adults, couples, and families

Treatment Approach: As we are all unique, I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, relational, and tailored to each individual. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from Adlerian, Person-Centered, Family Systems, and trauma-informed perspectives. My work focuses on understanding the whole person within the context of their relationships, beliefs, and life experiences. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can explore patterns, build self-awareness, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change.

About Me:

I am passionate about supporting people through growth, change, and the challenges that naturally arise across different stages of life. I believe that development happens best in environments where individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered. As a graduate clinician, my goal is to walk alongside clients as they navigate emotions, relationships, and belief systems that may be impacting their well-being. As an African American male who identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am especially mindful of the ways culture, identity, and systemic factors shape our lived experiences. I value cultural humility, advocacy, and creating space for clients to show up authentically as themselves. I approach therapy with empathy, curiosity, and a sense of humor when appropriate, and I strive to foster a space that feels safe, grounded, and affirming.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my partner, friends, and family. I like staying active, taking my dogs on walks, painting, and enjoying musicals, anime, and video games. I believe healing is not only about addressing challenges, but also about reconnecting with your purpose, strength, and balance.
